tonight: context

(I used this quote last March in a blog and have been pondering it today).
“Always design a thing by considering it in its next larger context – a chair in a room, a room in a house, a house in an environment, an environment in a city plan.”
-Eliel Saarinen, Finnish architect

maybe it’s not so much figuring the next best thing
context creates depth and width
determining the places you do and don’t go
the hows and whys fixing your eyes,
locking them as you wander to and fro
because of the very few things really known
trusting comes with doubts and soul
held there, open, raw and exposed
held there, loved so surely known
what you do matters
how you do it matters
you breathe free in a wide space
allowing the places you can and won’t go
to be stops on a map
that leads ever home
